Decorating your RV for Christmas can be tricky. You don’t have much space, but you still want to enjoy this time of year, right?

And while everything has its place - the lights, the wreaths, the Christmas cups- the most essential decoration is arguably the Christmas tree.

Here are a few tips to get the most out of your RV Christmas tree,

Pencil Christmas Trees are Great for RVs

Our first recommendation is what’s called a pencil Christmas tree. These trees are tall and skilly like a pencil - perfect for an RV!

This is the best of both worlds, really. On the one hand, you still see a tall tree visible across the room - er, RV. But, on the other hand, you aren’t taking up a considerable part of your living space with what is, at the end of the day, a decoration.

The best part is that you have many options, just like with regular-sized trees. You can get white or green, pre-lit or unlit, and a bunch of different styles.

Short Christmas Trees Work Great

Don’t like the idea of a pencil tree in the corner? No problem - another option is to get a smaller tree, like a 3ft or 4ft one.

These are more proportional than a pencil tree, so they can be more stable. They also fill up the room a bit more without being too big. They’re plenty big enough to put presents under, or you can move the gifts out of the way and spend the night under the tree.

Tabletop Trees Bring a lot of Spirit in a Small Package

The most space-friendly option is a small tabletop Christmas tree. These can be anywhere from a few inches tall to two feet.

This is arguably the best option for getting a lot of Christmas-ness without taking up much room. These trees can be beautiful and even hold a few ornaments, but you can put them anywhere.

The main downside is that they’re too small to put any decent-sized presents under. But the RV lifestyle is a way of going against the “stuff culture” we live in, so you may not give a lot of presents to each other anyways!

Outdoor Trees Let You Have it All

Usually, an outdoor tree is more for your neighbors to enjoy than yourself. You’re inside admiring your indoor tree and staying warm!

But when you are spending the Christmas season in an RV, things are different. You’re probably spending a lot of time outside, so you aren’t enjoying indoor decorations as much.

Since you’re outside anyways, why not have your main Christmas tree outside?

  • You can have a huge tree

  • You have a lot of options

  • You get to both enjoy it yourself and share it with the neighbors

Granted, it’s harder to stay warm and enjoy the tree. But at least you’re keeping your RV more functional and enjoying a big tree.

We hope these RV Christmas tree ideas help you get the most out of your holiday season! And just in case you’ve never tried it - we suggest you consider RV camping at the beach this December! Even if the water is cold, it’s still a beautiful place to spend the holiday, and the best part is that it won’t be as crowded as in the summertime.
