Are you trying to find the best RV campgrounds for the holidays? We’ve got you. Here are a few places to consider checking out.
Rhyne Road RV Park by Christmas Town, NC
Yes, you read that right. Christmas Town is a town called McAdenville that goes all-out for Christmas every year. The entire downtown is decorated with Christmas lights, wreaths, trees, and other decorations to help you get into the holiday spirit.
Sure, many cities put up a few decorations this time of year. But when a town loves the holiday so much that they trademark the name Christmas Town, you know they’re serious.
Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of RV parks close by, but one good option is the Rhyne Road RV park which is up the road from McAden… I mean, Christmas Town.
Sun Outdoors at Santa Claus, IN
No, we’re not kidding. There is a town called Santa Claus in Indiana. And unlike Christmas Town, that’s what it’s called year-round!
The theme is incorporated into everything.
The local lakes are called lake Rudolph and Christmas Lake
The local hotel is called Santa’s Lodge
Frosty’s Fun Center is a restaurant with arcades
Santa’s Candy Castle is a local candy store
You get the point!
The only challenge with staying at the Sun Outdoors is that it closes at the end of October. But you may be able to find another place with an app like Harvest Hosts if you’re trying to go up during November or December.
Leavenworth / Pine Village KOA in Leavenworth, WA
Traveling a bit further west, we come to Leavenworth, WA. Even though it’s cold this time of year, KOA is still open in December!
So what’s the big deal about this town? First, the cities are Bavarian-style, making them feel more Christmas-y year-round.
Second, the city decorates downtown with a lot of lights and has multiple lighting ceremonies. That’s right - more than one. It’s a great idea since December gets busy, and if you only have one, a lot of people may have to miss it due to other obligations.
Besides the tree lighting, you can do other activities like visiting the local reindeer farm or the Nutcracker Museum.
Inn Town Campground in Nevada City, CA
Trying to find a great place to visit out west but without the cold? No problem, Nevada City’s got you covered, and Inn Town Campground is right up the road.
The city does a few things this time of year to celebrate the holidays, but its Victorian Christmas is the main thing to check out.
Augustine Beach KOA in St. Augustine, FL
Moving down the road - way down the road - we head to Florida. This RV campground in St. Augustine is an excellent option if you’re trying to stay somewhere that’s decorated for Christmas but doesn’t come with a ton of snow.
St. Augustine - the oldest city in the U.S. - decorates its Spanish-style buildings for the holidays. While a walk on their downtown brick streets is always an incredible experience, it’s even better when surrounded by Christmas lights.
There you have it - just a few of the best RV campgrounds to celebrate the holidays. If you have a favorite, let us know! We’d love to hear from you.
One last thing - if you’re traveling in an RV this time of year, make sure your RV emergency kit is complete and ready for anything! You don’t want to get stuck on the side of the road somewhere without one.
