How to Go Green with RVing

When you decide to be an RVer, you take the responsibility of protecting and preserving the environment at all times when you are on the road. This means that you will have to follow all of the environmentally friendly practices. The following practices, tips, and products will help you in making sure your objective of preserving and protecting the environment is made easier during all your RV road trips.

Green RV Products:

When it comes to protecting the environment, you need to use products that are environment-friendly at all times. Some of the best environmentally friendly products for an RVer are:

1. Solar Panels: they can be used as reliable energy sources. Place your solar panel on the roof of the RV and use than electricity it generates to run some of the appliances you have in your RV. Pair your solar panel with a motorhome battery and an inverter to make maximum use of the source of energy. Make sure the solar panels are utilized efficiently for maximum efficiency during the road trip.

2. Toilet Chemicals: the toilet chemicals you use in your RV toilet should have a bacteria formula and be enzyme-based. It is recommended that natural composting be used instead of the formaldehyde since the formaldehyde has plenty of damaging effects.

3. Window coverings and awnings:  these are very useful when it comes to deflecting sunlight away from your RV during hot days, hence less energy is needed to keep the RV coach cool.

4. Ceiling fan and vent combinations: these two can be used to enhance the free flow of air. On cooler days they can be used to keep the RV warm and on hot days they can be used to keep the RV cooler. They play an important part in reducing the energy costs.

5. Water-saving showerhead: this should be installed in the RV bathroom. Compared to the standard shower heads they use between 30 to 70% less amount of water.

6. No-rinse cleaner: this will play an important role in minimizing the amount of water used in washing the Motorhome.

7. Rechargeable lantern: instead of using propane, gasoline or the other carbon-based fuels, use the rechargeable lantern to enjoy an even more eco-friendly energy source. Keep the batteries powered using your solar power.

Green RVing Tips:

Combining the following practices with the above RV green products will help in making sure that you are an environmentally cautious RVer.

1. Always dry out your laundry outside in fresh air. Have a campground and set up mounted clothes lines. This is much better in terms of energy consumption, compared to using a washer in the RV or a ground drier.

2. Allow the laundry to collect for a much longer time in the hamper so that you can have one big wash load instead of small frequent wash loads hence saving more water and energy.

3. Use a reliable patio light timer which allows light to come on at dusk and switch off automatically when there is enough light.
