The great thing about owning an RV is that the travel possibilities are endless! With the kids out of school for the Summer, these next few months are the perfect time to take trips! There are some very common places to travel to in the US with an RV such as the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore, but we have put together a few hidden gems of the United States that should be on your bucket list for traveling this Summer!

1.     Crater Lake National Park

Take a trip up to Oregon to experience one of America’s most beautiful lakes- Crater Lake! Although the lake itself is not exactly a hidden gem, not many families realize how convenient an RV trip up there can be. There are two different RV parks at Crater Lake and Summer is certainly the most fun time to visit! Days can be filled with hikes, boat rentals or even swimming while the night time is perfect for star gazing and campfires!

2.     South Padre Island

If your family is looking to head down south for the Summer, be sure to make a stop at South Padre Island, located at the south border of Texas, just about Mexico! Here you can find beaches, fishing and great restaurants! This area is also very close to the Texas State Aquarium and Art Museum if you’re looking for daytime activities. From South Padre Island it is very easy to continue the RV trip through towns near the gulf and end up in Louisiana where you can make stops at Baton Rouge and the ever-famous French Quarter of Louisiana!

3.     Columbia River

Following the Columbia River north is a great way to see Oregon, Washington and Canada all in one trip! This destination is great for a family looking to simply relax, do a little bonding and be removed from the business of a city. Along the river you can find great campsites, RV parks and fun areas to hike, kayak, bike and swim! The Columbia River Gorge is famously known for the breathtaking views!

4.     Sea Islands

Looking for somewhat of a tropical vacation? Take the RV down to the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia to visit the Sea Islands, a string of barrier and tidal islands that span the stretch of these coasts. Although it may not be the Caribbean, the Sea Islands are easily accessible by RV and far cheaper! The Golden Isles, in Georgia, are most famous for the delicious food along the coast and beautiful beaches! The Golden Isles also is home to one of the nicest RV parks in that area.

5.     Colonial Williamsburg

If you are from the West coast, Colonial Williamsburg is most likely some place you’ve never been, and to some never even heard of! This historic destination on the East coast is one of the most educational experiences your family can take this Summer! Visiting Colonial Williamsburg will give your family the chance to see what living in 18th century America was like.
