Need RV trip ideas for Memorial Day? Here are a few to consider.
RV Trip #1: Spend Memorial Day on the Gulf Coast
The Gulf of Mexico is beautiful. Warm water is great for swimming. White, sugary-sand beaches are great for soaking up rays and just hanging out. In the south, you’re typically able to hit the beach earlier in the year than beaches you find further up north.
You have a lot of great options on where to go. If you’re on the east coast, consider a town in Florida such as Pensacola, Panama City Beach, or Tampa. If you’re further west, you can try a place in Texas such as Corpus Christi or Galveston.
Either way, you can’t go wrong!
RV Trip #2: Spend Time in the Mountains
Nothing beats a relaxing weekend in the mountains. The weather is cooler, making it more comfortable during the day. The scenery is beautiful and the environment is quiet, helping you focus on what you’re doing - relaxing!
A great thing about our country is we have a lot of mountains to choose from. We have several major mountain ranges including the Appalachian Mountains, Rocky Mountains, and the Sierra Nevada.
RV Trip #3: Dive into History
Have you ever seen the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia? How about Independence Hall and Congress Hall? Maybe you’ve seen Philly plenty of times but haven’t spent much time in Washington DC. There are lots of attractions to visit in DC including the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, or Library of Congress.
Memorial Day is all about remembering our fallen heroes, so visiting these types of historical sites may be appealing. Just keep in mind, your best bet is to find an RV park outside the city and commute by public transportation inside the city.
RV Trip #4: Explore a Local State Park
If you don’t want to travel too far but still wish to immerse yourself in a new environment, consider finding a nearby state park. This can give you a great way to relax without having to spend a lot of time on the road.
Just use good ol’ Google to find a few options. If you’re in Oregon, you might land on something like Honeyman Memorial State Park. In the northeast? Maybe you’ll end up at Nickerson State Park or Cunningham Falls State Park.
Every part of our country has state parks - you may be surprised to find what’s right up the road!
RV Trip #5: Go Wine Tasting or visiting Breweries
Have you ever spent a weekend wine tasting? Maybe you’re more of a “beer person” so you’d rather visit a few different breweries.
Either way, it can make for a great, memorable trip!
Similar to exploring a local national park, the great thing is you probably have more options around than you realize. It might be that you can drive 1-2 hours and find yourself in a small town with lots of breweries and wineries to choose from.
Conclusion
Make this Memorial Day RV trip a great one! Enjoy your holiday!
