Thinking of going RV glamping? We’ll cover a few of the basics here such as what glamping actually means, what to look for in a glamping camper and how to find the right RV parks to visit.
What is RV Glamping?
The term “glamping” is a play on words by combining the phrase “glorious camping” into one word. Essentially it means you’re camping out in the wilderness but you aren’t exactly roughing it.
The thing is, glamping means different things to everyone. For someone that’s used to sleeping in a tent on the ground, it doesn’t take much for camping to be more luxurious! Simply by adding a few sturdy walls and a roof with a decent bed to sleep on, being in an RV is already a huge step up.
For others, that’s not quite glorious enough. They want a more sophisticated experience like a nice hot tub to soak in, a huge shower, a full kitchen, etc. Everyone is different. So, what does glamping mean to you? Once you know that, you can move on to the next step - finding a glamping camper.
RV Glamping - Finding the Right Camper
As we mentioned above, Step 1 is figuring out what you want to get out of your camper glamping experience. Once you do that, you can start searching for the right vehicle that will fit your needs.
The good news is as the RV industry grows, more and more RV options will become available over time. More options = better chances of you finding a camper you love.
For example - do you plan on traveling with the camper? If so, you may not want to get the biggest type of camper you can find if you aren’t comfortable driving it. You may want to downsize a notch or two.
On the flip side, do you plan on finding a glamping RV rental where the trailer will just stay put the whole time? That’s a completely different story. In that case, feel free to go as big as you want! Bigger usually means more (or bigger) amenities, helping you get the most out of your trip. Examples are Class C motorhomes or fifth-wheel trailers.
The nicer, more expensive RVs have more toys and gadgets than you’d expect. Touch screens throughout the trailer. Walk-in closets, so you feel like you’re back at home. Heated floors so even in cold weather, your feet stay nice and toasty. All of the appliances you can ask for. Nice, comfortable furniture.
Now that you’ve figured out what kind of trailer you want, it’s time to start looking for places to stay.
RV Glamping - Finding the Right Park
There aren’t a lot of glamping RV parks out there, but there are a few. Here are the types of things you’ll find at some of these places.
-Pool (either indoor, outdoor, or both)
-Hot tub
-Recreational room/arcade
-Playground
-Bathhouse with toilets, showers, and sinks
-Fitness center
-Fishing pond
-Fire pits
-Canoes or boats for rent
-Miniature golf
-Pickleball courts
Will you find a park with all of those things? Maybe not. But will you find one with at least some of them? Probably, you just have to look for them!
Think about your priorities. What do you like to do when you go camping? According to Statista, the most popular camping/RV activities include fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, bird watching, and sightseeing. Try to find a glamping RV park that makes it easy for you to do your favorite things.
RV Glamping is What You Make it
The key is thinking ahead to figure out what you want to do on your adventure. Have fun!
