There’s nothing quite like the feeling of driving down the open road in your high-end Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based Coach. You have the freedom to go everywhere and anywhere. And when you finally come upon your destination and you’re engaging that parking brake, the last thing you want to deal with is the cover coming loose or literally falling apart on you.
When you’re away from civilization, there’s nothing you can do.
And on a $100,000-plus coach, you expect a certain amount of finish in your vehicle - especially from Mercedes-Benz. Consumers of these coaches navigate towards the Sprinter platform for a number of reasons, including the quality of the design, materials, and finish, as well as its impressive gas mileage and performance when compared to similar options.
This isn’t an isolated incident. On many model year 2007-2018 Sprinter-based coaches, the parking brake cover has reportedly been an issue for many owners. While some owners pulled out the duct tape for a quick fix, a coach-owning couple decided to tackle this problem themselves.
While some owners had this part replaced under the original Mercedes-Benz warranty, within a few months, they’d be back to square one with the same problem on their hands.
Before inspiration struck the Beukemas on how to solve the problem, they researched online extensively to find a real solution. After not finding any, Steve and Heidi set out to create their own cover. Heidi came up with the design and stitched it herself to match the original fit and finish of the factory parking brake cover.
Made out of marine-grade upholstery, this new cover perfectly matches the rest of their Sprinter-Based coach, and has the added benefit to withstand UV lights. It’s the cover that should have come from the Mercedes-Benz factory to begin with.
But the story doesn’t end there.
The Beukemas teamed up with RV Shop to sell their replacement cover. Now, those experiencing the same frustrating issue of their parking brake covers falling apart or coming loose have a legitimate, reliable fix.
One customer, Burt N., had these kind words to say about this fix, “Received it, and it looks awesome. It completely dresses up the parking brake lever and looks much better than the plastic cover that is always coming loose. The darn plastic cover is a nagging issue.”
Robin K, an owner of two Sprinter-based coaches, said, “We love them. A big THANKS going out to your wife!”
