If you’re going on a road trip, you may as well make it a scenic one! As they say, sometimes in life, the journey is the destination. Here are a few RV road trip ideas for this year that would make your insta pop.
#1: The Florida Keys
Have you ever been to the southern tip of Florida? Sky blue water. Beautiful, sandy beaches. Great weather, especially during the winter. Great food. What else can you ask for on a road trip in your RV? On your way to the Keys, you’ll pass over a bunch of really cool bridges.
Is there really a better way to get great views of the ocean without having to get out on the water in a boat? The panorama is the perfect backdrop for an insta moment. That said - if bridges are not your thing, this is definitely not the trip for you. (The Seven Mile Bridge is no joke.)
#2: The Great Smoky Mountains
We’ve written about the Great Smoky Mountains a few times, like our last post on RV spring break trip ideas. It’s a beautiful area with a lot of great things to do. You can keep going north with the Appalachian Mountains to make it a full-fledged road trip with all kinds of sights. You’ll get the benefit of the beautiful views without the long, tiring journey of hiking all the way through!
#3: Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire
Moving a bit further north, one option is “The Kanc.” A 34.5 mile stretch in New Hampshire, Kancamagus Highway is one of the best places in the country to see beautiful fall foliage. It’s beautiful any time of year, but the best time to go is when the leaves have changed.
Find a few places to stop and snap some pictures for Instagram, then be on your way. Don’t feel like you have to do the whole trip in one day. There are a few campgrounds nearby where you can rest your head and local attractions can keep you busy between time on the road.
#4: Edge of Wilderness Scenic Byway
If you’re in the midwest, one option to consider is the Edge of Wildnerness Scenic Byway. It’s a 47-mile drive that connects Grand Rapids to Effie, but it’s really much more than that. You may see bald eagles along the way. You’ll pass cool, beautiful small towns. You’ll pass historic sites that are worth a quick stop. And yes, it is a Scenic Byway so you’ll get plenty of great photo opportunities on the way.
#5:Montana
Have you ever heard of Montana as “Big Sky?” Well, it’s hard to really understand until you get out there. Fair warning - once you do, you’ll be tempted to stay. Montana has a lot to offer someone who just wants a few days to get away from the big city. You can stop and stay by towns and cities of course, but the real treasure is getting away from the city and into the wilderness. The cool thing is you can go just about anywhere and be in awe. Post some pictures to your Instagram account, and everyone - whether they’ve been to Montana or not - will be jealous.
#6: The California Coastline
There’s a reason why we wrote a whole article on California RV road trips. It’s a beautiful state with a lot to offer, so it’s hard to pick just one recommendation. Well, actually it’s not. While the whole state is beautiful, your best bet is to make a road trip along the coast. It’s hard to beat the contrast of beautiful coastal cliffs and sandy beaches that you’ll see along the way.
Conclusion
Whichever road trip you decide to take, make sure you stop up on your RV supplies before you hit the road! You don’t want to get in the middle of nowhere and realize you’re missing something critical.
