RV Spring Break Trip #1: Head to the Hills

Who doesn’t love a good trip to the mountains? Even though driving an RV through the mountains isn’t always the most fun thing in the world, a trip to these majestic giants is always a great way to spend a few days to getaway.  The trick is figuring out where you want to go. If you’re on the east coast, one great option is the Great Smoky Mountains. If you’re further out west, maybe the Rocky Mountains are the place for you.  Either way, the mountains make for a great spring break trip. The plants are starting to open back up so you can get some beautiful views and the weather will be fantastic.

Spring Break Trip #2: Explore a New Town

Another RV trip idea is to explore a town you’ve never really been to before. Small towns can have a lot to offer, the trick is to do a little research before you go.  For example, you can check out Long Beach Peninsula in Washington. They have a lot to choose from like restaurants, museums and events going on. Further east? Maybe you can check out Williamsburg, Virginia. As an important part of our American history, there’s a lot to do and learn in the area.  If you’re close to Texas but haven’t been to Fredericksburg, that may be an option for you. They have a lot of things going on for kids and if you have a chance to get away for an evening, the wineries are great.

Spring Break Trip#3: Hit the Beach

Tried and true, you can always choose to go to the beach. Make sure you check out our tips to RV at the beach before you go! As far as specific places, one great choice is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It has beautiful beaches but doesn’t get as crowded as more touristy places.  Another good RV beach trip is to St. Augustine, Florida. Known as the nation’s oldest city, it has some cool museums, shops, events, and more. And since you’re right by the beach, you can always take a break from sightseeing to hang out by the water.  And of course, out west, there are tons of great options. San Diego has beautiful beaches or you can go to Point Mugu State Park, just to name a few.

Spring Break Trip #4: Take a Trip to the Desert

A lot of Americans have never even seen our beautiful deserts. This is a pity because we have a nice variety - not all deserts look the same.  For example, White Sands National Park is unmatched. These huge dunes are beautiful to look at and fun to hike on or sled down! Meanwhile, Joshua Tree National Park is also a desert but it looks very different. It has small bushes and rocky hills, but the park is also full of Joshua Trees. Joshua Trees are interesting trees that are relatively short with sharp leaves and zig-zagging branches. Just like the website says, they look like they came out of a Dr. Seuss book! Then of course you have the red Arizona desert, like the one around Grand Canyon National Park. If you’ve never been, Spring Break may be a good time to go.

Spring Break Trip #5: Hang Out by an Awesome Lake

Some people love the beach - others would rather sport the “Lake Life” sticker on their car. Lakes certainly have their place, especially if you’re nowhere close to a beach.  Lake Powell is a fun trip if you’ve never been. It has over 2,000 miles of shoreline, so it’s a lot bigger than you’d think. You could also take a trip a little further north to someplace like Priest Lake, Idaho, but just keep in mind it will be too chilly to swim this time of year!

 Conclusion

The great thing about planning a kid-friendly spring break RV trip is how many options you have. The main thing we recommend is that you try something new - that’s what RVing is all about!
