With winter approaching, the windshield wipers on your RV will take on an added importance in providing you with safe driving conditions. The winter not only brings snow, but it also brings ice and rain. While you are confident that your RV can safely navigate most of these conditions that make the roads a challenge, your windshield wipers may be the most important factor in driving safely.
Windshield wipers are often one of the most neglected items on the RV. However, not only should windshield wipers be maintained but they should also be checked often for wear. Maintaining wipers is accomplished by running a wet towel over the rubber blades to remove accumulated sand and dirt. This can prolong the life of the blades and make them more effective. There are 5 reasons that support the importance of windshield wipers for safe driving. These are:
1. Good vision is essential for road safety. Clean windshields which are often the function of good windshield wipers is absolutely necessary for driving safely on the highway.
2. At least 90 percent of your driving decisions are based on an unobstructed and clear view of the road which means it is essential that your windshield wipers work effectively.
3. Windshield wipers can be operated to remove bugs or road grime while the RV is moving. This allows the driver to have a clear view of the road at all times.
4. Good windshield wipers will keep the windshield free of snow and rain which will seriously obstruct your view if this is allowed to buildup.
5. Frost on the windshield is easily removed by good windshield wipers when the glass warms up. This is a much easier process than scraping, and it is a safer process.
