Many of us are enjoying the convenience and luxury of today's modern RV. Over 8 million households in the U.S. have an RV with a 58 percent increase in ownership since 1980. First known as housetrailers, the RV industry in this country started in the late 1920's. It was in the 1950's that self-contained motorhomes were first built. Since that time, the industry has grown rapidly.

There are wide ranges in price for motorhomes, some selling for over a million dollars. Each one comes with specific appliances and some people add even more, depending on the space and the desire for convenience. Appliances in an RV depend on its size. They are all designed to conserve power and require little maintenance. The energy source may be a generator, batteries, propane, or an outside supplier.

These appliances are what turns an RV into a real home. The stacked washer-dryer, for example, comes in apartment size and is available in vented and non-vented versions. These have all the features of a high-grade home unit with numerous setting cycles, automatic prewash, low-heat/low spin options and other conveniences. There is also a portable compact washer, which has a 4.5-pound washing capacity. The latter is convenient for an RV with limited space and is simple to operate.

The RV microwave offers the same convenience as that found in a home, the size of the unit depending on the space available. There are also things such as under the counter coffee makers, which can be timed and set for specific coffee needs. Appliances also include things such as air conditioners, water heaters, vacuum systems, fireplaces, furnaces, ranges, cooktops and many other things that can turn a RV into a real home away from home. These RV appliances are available in the latest models and at a reasonable price.
