Fall is in the air, and many are starting to think about getting out of town for a few weeks. One of the best ways to do so is by RVing! Here are a few places to consider! And don’t worry - we have every part of the country covered.

RV Destination #1: Skyline Drive in Virginia

Found along the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, this scenic drive will take you through a forest that shows an array of purple dogwood trees, red Virginia creeper vines, and bright orange and yellow hickory trees.

Keep in mind there’s a speed limit of about 35mph for most of the ride, so you can’t exactly be flying around the corners. Baby driving slow, the good news is you will be able to enjoy the scenery a bit easier. There are a ton of beautiful sites to see, so stop a few times to just enjoy life and be thankful for the opportunity to do some RVing.

There’s more to do than just drive through! You can stop by some local attractions like the Luray Caverns, which is a set of caves with huge rooms filled with stone columns and water pools.

RV Destination #2: Montana Basecamp

When you’re in Big Sky Country, one place to check out for RV camping is Montana Basecamp. You’ll get:

  • Easy access to parks including Glacier National Park
  • Close proximity to downtown
  • Kalispell Biking and hiking trails
  • Free wifi and strong phone signal at the camp
  • Full hookups

What more could you ask for when you’re doing some fall RV camping?  Just make sure you visit soon - they close for the season at the end of October!

RV Destination #3: Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Anyone who has been to the mountains of Colorado knows why it’s been called “God’s Country.” The mountains are beautiful and make you appreciate the country we call home.

One particularly great area for RVing in the area is Rocky Mountain National Park. First off, the park is HUGE - 415 square miles to be exact! And the fall is arguably the best time to visit since it’s warm enough that you can explore without a ton of snow but cool enough that you won’t be miserable. Hiking and mountain biking are two of the main things people do out there, but you can also just relax and hang around the camper. The RV resort is only 2 years old and has a lot of hookups, pull-through campsites, a general store, Arkansas restaurants. Not bad!

RV Destination #4: Yosemite National Park, California

Everyone has heard of Yosemite, right? There’s a reason for that: it’s awesome. Especially for RVing folks such as yourself.

First off, the park is HUGE - it’s 1,200 square miles! No wonder people can spend a whole week (or multiple weeks) there and still feel like they haven’t seen enough of it.

Second, it’s home to a lot of cool stuff. Waterfalls. Big, open meadows. Tons of woods. You know it, the park has it.

And it has a lot of activities:

  • Horseback riding
  • Birdwatching
  • Fishing
  • Rock climbing
  • Just gazing at the stars at night
  • Biking
  • Hiking

You can do what you want - hang around tons of people or just go lose yourself in the wilderness.

RV Destination #5: Talimena Drive in Oklahoma and Arkansas

When you think of Oklahoma and Arkansas, do you think of a beautiful destination for RVing? Probably not… unless you know about this little gem already.

This is a drive-through Ouachita National Forest. By this time of year (late October), it has a lot of trees turning beautiful red, orange and yellow colors. This only lasts for a few weeks, so go soon!

It doesn’t take long to drive, but you can always stop and do stuff to help pass the time like walk through old historic towns or go hiking.

RV Destination #6: Lake Superior, Minnesota

If you’ve been to the Great Lakes you know how there’s nothing on earth quite like them. They’re so huge that you can’t see across. But did you also know they’re a great place to see beautiful fall colors this time of year?

It’s true - especially on the north shore of Lake Superior. You can drive on the North Short, Superior National Forest, or Gunflint Trail scenic byways. Between all 3, you have over 150 miles of beautiful fall-time views.

You can also stop at a lot of things to see like waterfalls, small towns, lighthouses, and great restaurants. You may even see the northern lights!
